I was sick of the grass growing through this fence and wasting my trimmer line on the fence so I decided to fix the problem

The first couple of pics are what the fence looks like before

this next pic is where I started to rip out the sod after edging. The approx length of the entire fence around the yard was about 160 ft.

this is where we started to put down the mulch for one section. We were going to use stones (the same as his landscape) but it would have took forever, plus he wanted the mulch instead

Like I said, it isn't finished yet and there is still a mess there as you can see in the pic

looks good. Personaly don't like the red stuff but hey if they want it i'll give it to them. That will sure save you some time and string when mowing though. Good idea.

I am with you on this one as well. I hate the red mulch because it loses it colors so fast.

yeah we try and stick with the good old standared x2 shreded hardwood. IMO it looks the best and lasts the longest as long as you put down a good 1-2"s. Drove by a red dyed job we did earlyer... around a month ago, looks like the stuff we had covered up. It was at the joe luis arena so I will give them that it is the wings colors but I still said it will look like crap within the month. OH WELL

I think it'll be as much of a PITA to vertically trim the border of the mulch each week (to keep the grass from encroaching toward the fence) and would not want to do a job like that unless the bed was at leat 42" wide and would suppport shrubs and/or perennials. Hell if the problem is due to lack of trimming on the neighbors part, just vertically trim along the chain link every 3rd visit or so. Just my $.02 - not trying to bust anyone's stones/
