i have a chance to pick up a ferris 2000 its a 2011 with a 61'' icd deck 130 hours, asking 5000 looks almost mint. problem i have is that it has a 26hp B&S extended life motor. are these motors any good i know the vangaurd is a good motor. just not sure of this motor, can it handle the spring growth does this motor have enough guts

I bet it's good to go. Most all 61" Zs in the past had 25hp motors and they were fine. That seems like a fine deal! Offer 4200 because of the unproven motor and see where it takes ya. I have a 2008 ferris 2000 series with over 3000 hrs. The motor never blew up, just a little weak and leaking a bunch of oil so I just replaced it with another kawi 25. Hopefully it'll go another 3000 hrs.

ya i had a dixie chopper with a 25hp kaw and did fine was just wondering if the 26 B&S is really a 26 or had the power of a 18hp.
i was going to try and low ball it once i sell one of my scag vrides hate making offers on stuff without the money in hand

My Hustler has a 27 kholer so really 25hp and it knocks down very thick bush/grass no problem.

i would'nt be concerned about a lack of power my concern would be that you will be lucky to get 7-800 hours max out of that engine. and when i say lucky i mean very lucky i have seen many blown with 4-500 hours on them.

was it maintained properly? did it have an initial 8 hr oil change? vital questions you need to ask.

I've been a ferris dealer for goin on 5 years now and I've never seen or heard of a 2000Z having a Professional Series briggs on it. Seems like it had a Vangaurd on it at one time and he cheaped out and put a Pro Series on it, the wiring harness is very close between the two engines. The only thing I don't like about the pro series engine is that air filter maintenece is KEY on the life of the engine and you have to adjust the valves very often while using it commercially. You sure its not the 28hp Cyclonic engine they came out with last year?

no it says extended life on engine i went to the dealer and saw the cyclonic engine and its different. i pretty good at maintenance on my machines i just want to be able to get 1000 hours out of it. i only cut about 30 lawns a week and some i have to use the stander or walk behind he will take 4700 for it 130 hours and has the icd 61'' deck

talked to guy today the mower is a is500z with a 26hp B&S extended life, 131 hours icd deck. is a estate sale mower, and the son knows nothing about it, no scratches on trim side of deck, he said his day used a push mower to trim so mower looks brand new. is this mower worth 4700
he said sorry about giving wrong info i told him i would think about it

4700 ain't bad..... its cost $5999 new if dealer sold it retail. But long as you take care of it it will get over 1000 hours on it. I got a customer with one that's knocking on the 2000 hour mark...2nd engine. Then you can upgrade to a cyclonic after the first one goes
