I've been searching lately for a 60'' Z and have narrowed it down to Hustler, exmark, and Ferris. I've always been an EXmark guy but would love to hear about the others. The one complaint the ferris dealer told me was that when you start and stop, the machine rocks a bit because of the suspension. any thoughts? Thanks.

Drive one a see for yourself.. It does not rock when starting or stopping.... They are quick and nimble like most Z's. I've had ferris ztr's for as long as they have had full suspension. You can adjust the ride soft and active to stiff. The difference in your comfort and productivity will be considerable and you will wonder why you didn't have one sooner. The suspension parts have never broken or worn out or have had a single issue so that doesn't apply. Some people will tell you that. Yes you have more grease points. Not an issue to me. Which model will you be looking to get?

Probably the 3100 series, the dealer only had a 2500 series out so once the 3100 is available i'll take a better look.

I just drove a Ferris last week 3100z. Brand new. I just could not believe the difference when I went over the bumps. I hit every big hole on his land and (WOW). DId not fall off my seat. Now I am in the market to purchase one. I am about comfort now these days. I am going to order the 3100z with mulch kit and suspension seat. Cant wait. I like how u can adjust the softness and stifness. When I get one it will be set to the softness setting.

The Hustler (if it's a Super Z) will cut the most grass per hour, and the operation due to smoothness of hydraulics, is far ahead of the competition. The Exmark is a good mower, nothing spectacular about operation, but gives a very good cut. The Ferris 3100 will give you excellent engine options, a ride far superior to anything in the industry, and a very satisfactory cut.

People like different things when it comes to feel of operation, and seem to find one cut of a deck that suits them better than others, and this is what makes the world go-around. Try each of the mowers you have an interest in, then come back and tell us what your thoughts are.

Do you have any issues with scalping that you wouldnt ordinarily get with a non-suspended ztr?

No there is no extra scalping, Puppypaws when you say more grass cut per hour are you saying that the Super Z will cut more grass when you have to double cut becuase the Vx4 is clumping and the ferris is not... Your cutting your own grass and keeping it cut short... Mowing commercial we see all types of grass.... The ICD sprays a nice fan of clipping without and clumping.... Unless grass is extremely tall and wet.... Even damp normal grass there is no clumping

Not sure why you would ask that question but no. The way it is designed makes scalping a much less issue. It's still a regular mower not some space age contraption. Just alot more comfortable with a great cut. You can go faster so it is more productive as well.

I run a 2000 and 3100, for small residents I run the 2000 it's quick and nimble, on the bigger stuff I run the 3100 for the speed and ride quality...
