    Put some of those thick washers between the blades and the spindles.
    Be careful not to put too many though, you still need plenty of the bolts threads to go in deep enough.
    It may also push your blades down past the bottom of the baffles, no idea if that will matter much.

    Mine you can actually lower the entire deck about 1.5 inches by removing the deck mounting bolts and lowering it. ie. there is an extra set of holes for you to do this. When the deck is in it's normal position the highest level is 4 or 4.5 inches so when you lower it the highest is 2.5 or 3 inches.
