If a customer wants their lawn fertilized, do you do it before the first cut or after or sometime later?

Both. It all depends on when the application route is scheduled, and/or when the spring cleanup gets done. In a perfect world, all the applications would be done as soon as the spring cleanups are done.

Before if the yard is pretty clean and not much thatch especially if you are using a crabgrass preventer. If not then after might be better.
