Few Basic Questions

    Not really, but they are both units for power. The kilowatt number should be about 3/4 of the horsepower one. The conversion number is 0.7459999999980754 if you want to be more specific.

    I think you'll find that commercial equipment= quality in the handhelds and like he said you'll be fine with most brands. I can tell you from experience in a very similar situation that buying homeowner quality means replacing them every couple years if you do more than a handful of yards, on the other hand I bought a $150 husqvarna blower a couple years ago and now its a back up. If $$ is tight you could get some cheaper stuff- but again longevity will be an issue.

    I don't think he meant equivalent as in 1:1...
