I finally got to demo a SCAG Cheetah 32 Vanguard 61" Velocity deck today on one of my big propertys. After demoing the Exmark X-Series which was suposed to be the best mower made, I absolutley hated it. It bucks you out of the seat and just beats the crap out of you. And I was not impressed with the Series 6 deck at all. It cut like crap if you went over 7 mph. And also the new rods that suspend the deck rattle like mad!

My only option left was a SCAG. How did i like it?.....I LOVED IT. The Velocity deck is incredible! It doesnt even compare with Exmark. I had no idea what ive been missing. It cut 6" tall wet sod without having to double cut! I was in shock i couldnt believe theres a mower out there that could cut grass that wet and tall without having to double cut. I always have to double cut this yard no matter what. But the Cheetah did it in one pass and it looked perfect.

As for the Cheetahs speed, I used my GPS to get the max speed on both high and low gear. Low gear was 12 mph and High gear was 16.4 mph. So theyre advertising was all correct and it did what they said it would. Would i ever used high gear on a lawn? no. It goes 12 mph already which is crazy fast. I tried going 16 on the lawn but it felt dangerous and honestly on most yards you couldnt even get up to speed on time. The suspension system on it worked very well and and thats whats making me buy the Cheetah over the Turf Tiger. Im planning on buying this mower very soon. And for all those Exmark guys out there youve been ripped off. You couldnt pay me to run an Exmark after I ran a SCAG.

Nice review, I am in the market for a new one too, I was going to demo an exmark because that is what I have now, but this is not the first time I have heard not so great reviews about the newest models of exmark. Which is too bad, because I LOVE my current exmark Lazer z. I pretty much have my mind set on a gravely 460, too bad you couldnt get one of those to compare against

I have heard nothing but good reviews on the Cheetah! I was at my dealer on Monday and I did not see one and I have not seen anyone using one around town.

I guarantee if you demoed the SCAG Cheetah or Turf Tiger against the Lazer Z X-Series you would choose the SCAG. I was 12 hours away from buying a Lazer Z X-Series for $12,000 and the demo finally arived so i could try it. I cut one lawn with it and took it back to the dealer and told them to cancel my order. the SCAGs are cheaper also! almost $2,000 cheaper. If you buy an Exmark your just paying for the name. but everyones entitled to their own opinion. I currently have a Toro Z master which os the same thing as a Lazer Z and up until today i thought it was the best cutting mower and it couldnt get any better......i was proved wrong today with the Velocity deck. Totaly amazed.

Nice review! I have run the velocity deck since 2006. It really is amazing. You will have no trouble with wet thick grass. I never double cut. I also suggest you demo the new Gravely 400 series. The X-Factor deck is also very impressive.

The Cheetah is a very nice machine, however, I just don't need one ... darn 'it !!

If you put the G6 blades on it it's even better. The 61 Velocity deck I had on my V Ride got a lot better than it already was when i put those on.

I hope I'm not hi-jacking this thread but do the WB Velocity Decks cut just as good as the riders?

I'm not a fan of the latest generation of Exmarks either, but around where you live, that's almost all anyone runs. I've never understood that.

Just curious because I know you have several dealers that aren't that far from where you are- did you even try to demo a Deere 900 series? They don't ride like the Cheetah, especially without the suspension seat, but I gaurantee you the 7 Iron deck will cut as good or better than the Cheetah, wet or dry, and leave smaller clippings on the surface when cutting off as much as you say you did today. Plus, they hold hills great.
