GOT MY FIRST TRUCK!!!! 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x2 Extended Cab, 4.8L V8, Automatic, Tow Package, 64,000 miles. I just picked it up today so the picture is not the best because it is getting dark but feel free to tell me what you think of it.

I think that living in MA you are stupid for not getting 4x4.

I understand your point but i would rather spend the about $3000 difference it would have been on equiptment. Plus this was the lowest milage and nicest condition truck that was around my area that was in my price range, but this truck is really just to get me into the industry I have plenty of time to upgrade later on. I really dont think that 4x4 is going to be that big of an issue, ill just throw a couple big bags of sand in the back if need be:rolleyes:. The most snow we have had this year on cape is 2" so i dont think much of it.

I wouldn't say stupid, but just be careful with a 2WD in snow and heavy rain. don't go near mud, no matter how little there is. You will always get stuck lol! Trust me, I know from experience. With a longer wheelbase like that you will have a very light rear end. Sandbags, sandbags, sandbags. Most of all... have fun! That is a nice truck.

I'm not saying that the truck isn't nice.....we have all chevy/GMC's, I love them........but I will tell you that on our 2500HD's the back end is fairly light and if it wasn't for 4x4 we would have been in a heap of trouble with a ton of downtime. I know that you have had only 2" at most this year, but that is certainly not the norm, in fact it is quite rare for this time of year and as soon as you get a decent amount of snow it won't matter how many "sand bags" you put in the bed.......you WILL be sittin'

Good luck I hope it's big enough for you and all of your tasks during the year. We have two 2500 HD's and 1 3500 HD Dump and many times we were thankful for the 6.0 V8's, because I wouldn't want to abuse the 4.8 models. But if you are hauling a smaller trailer, it will be great for you. 4WD is overrated unless you plow
