Need thoughts on firepits. Do you guys use firebrick or something similar to line the bottom. I have seen a few with two courses of curved wall and 3 or 4 inches of sand on top of the the pavers used in the patio....I have read about venting?

I built mine starting with a 22" semi truck rim and layed pavers around the outside of the rim with 4 pieces of 2" black pipe cemented in to provide mottom air, it works good

you do need firebrick. and enough room to vent it use some dowles on the bottom morter to set vent holes if the pit is not properly vented you will never get a fire going
