Looking at building (having built) a 4 or 5 foot inside diameter firepit for my backyard. Searching the internet could not be more frustrating to find out adequate plans or reference a builder in my area.

I found a google textbook from 1910 that contains the number and key of firebricks to make a circle of most any diameter.

So at least I'm off to a good start.

Have you looked at using a fire pit kit from simms stone? We never use firebrick in or firepits, no one uses them enough to need them plus they are about 2.50 a piece where a fire pit kit from simms stone is about 450.00, but they give you enough block for 2-3 fire pits. Hope this helps a little.
