first cut of the year

    I never really noticed but how short should the first cut be of the year i got a scag tiger cub. I think the high is a lil diff then exmark and others it seems like i cut 3" on mine and its too short but 3" exmark is ok idk? Let me know?

    You need to measure your actual blade height from the ground on level ground. John Deere makes a guage for this. Most people recommend 1/8 to 1/4 down in front, but my Scags cut better when the deck is perfectly level. My Exmark at 1000 hrs was cutting at 2 1/4" when the height indicator was set at 3". I had to replace some pieces to get it back up. 3" is about right for fescue.
