First Patio Pour (advice Welcome)

    Will be pouring our first concrete patio next week, and just unclear about a few items.
    1. Patio will take about 5CY of Ready Mix, but I am uncertain as to whether
    wire mesch is needed. We put in 6-8 " of 21A C&R, andwill tamp it Monday. It is just a patio so my thought was to not use mesch. Thoughts?
    Forms are all in.
    For a patio, What is the best material for expansion joint? A PT 1x4 was mentioned, but would rather use something better looking for a patio.

    What type of concrete is best given what was stated above?

    Depending on the size an expansion joint may not be needed.
    Here we have hard red clay so a base isnot needed.
    The mesh is optional and the more stable the ground the less it helps.

    They make nice metal expansion joints that are less obvious than a 1 x4.
    You can also cut the joint in after the pour.

    We always use mesh on patios cause you never know whats going to end up ontop of it. We tend to use PVC or cut joints. Looks alot neater IMO.
