    Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum, but the conversations look really great!

I am in the market to by an Exmark commercial mower, my budget prevents me from getting the Hydro model, so I am looking at a 48" Metro. My Question is, I can get this in the fixed deck model or the HP Floating deck for more cash, does anyone have any preferences over fixed or floating decks?

I will be mowing both commercial and residential properties.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

Depends on your properties. I have a fixed deck 48" w/b that does pretty good on everything. But, the floating decks have a little better finished look when completed. Then again, it goes back to your situation. The wider the deck the more potential for scalping. If you have some rough properties, the added investment for a floating deck would be a good idea.

A lot of members on this site will recommend a floating deck for anything bigger then 36". Best of luck to you and welcome to the site.

Floating deck is the way to go- it will contour to uneven turf better.
