Flagstone is a generic term for any natural stone that is flat and relatively even in thickness. It can be Bluestone, or Sandstone, or Slate, or whatever fits that description. In different areas of the country, people associate the term with a particular type of stone rather than any stone "flagging". In New England, people will usually point to slate when you ask what "flagstone" is, but bluestone and the others are technically flagstone as well.

So around my area people would most likely be talking about sandstone..
