I have a new customer who had seeded his yard about ten days ago with some Savanah. It's coming in now and is a quarter inch tall. I asked if he had put down a starter fert prior to seeding and he hadn't. Has anyone tried a foliar app for new Bermuda ? I know foliar-feeding has a great burn potential to the foliage. Would it be better to apply some greens grade quick release like a 14 4 8 once it gets a little taller ? Thanks

Foliars and liquids have proven safer for me than granules. Because this is new grass, 20-20-20 at 4 oz per M in 2 gallons of water is good. I would repeat this in 2 weeks. Note the low rate. With liquids, the goal is not to load the soil with high rates in hopes that the grass will pick it up. A liquid is absorbed by both leaves and roots from the time it is sprayed. The best times to apply this are either very early in the day or as the sun is going down.
