I need opinions on the Ford V-10 6.8 liter engine. I bought a step van that was advertised to have a 5.4 Triton with 110,000 miles. It is a 2003. I was just informed it had a 6.8 instead. I have van with the 5.4 and it has been good. I was told by a friends mechanic I could get 700,000 miles out of the 6.8.
The price of the vehicle is not changing.

It is a great engine, lots of power for a lot cheaper price then a Diesel engine. We had one in a 2000 F350 and it was great.

Keep an eye on the spark plugs. I'm not sure if it was fixed by 03, but the older v10s liked to spit them out. I hear they are good motors and aren't really much worse on fuel than the 5.4.

Great motor . We have a new one and love it. Did alot of research on it before hand and bought it over the diesel.

The V10 is a beast! Not so great on fuel economy, but huge amounts of power.
