Why is it so difficult to have this happen? Try and go out of your way to take care of a friend (everything outside of a timely manner....I mean come on, I'm doing it for practically nothing) and they turn on you towards the end? I ended up walking away. I've read it a couple times on lawnsite, how it's ruined either friendships or families.

    Totally blows my mind.

Maybe they'd rather pay full price and get prompt service?

I do either free or full price. Can't complain if its free and if its full price then they get the same quality as any other customer

I wasn't even doing much landscaping. I did a lot of land clearing then installed a chain link fence. Got all the posts installed after taking care of all the prep work, that's when we had problems. I knew from the start it would end up this way, hoping it wouldn't.

Lesson learned, and any more jobs for friends is going to be handled like anyone else. Or referred somewhere else.

I don't work for friends family or neighbors
I do it for free or I won't do it at all
    It will never end good

Everyone who gets charged, gets charged full price... A favor is free and is completely different than if someone wants a professional job done. Full price gets prompt service and a quality job done with no hard feelings on either side.
