Anybody have any numbers on fuel economy for a 36hp Vanguard, and a 29hp Kawasaki? I am deciding between a few different engine options, and I am looking for some real world experience.

This is relative stuff... My big Vanguard on 61" runs thru 10 gallons of propane in 5.8 hrs. A 20 hp Kohler on 48" will run thru 10 gallons in 13 hrs. This Briggs eats fuel. The dealer said that around 2 - 2.5 gallons of gas an hour. I would look for a better fuel mileage engine if available. The up side it has a lot more power than I need on a 61"

I've been hearing that EFI is the way to go.

I get 1.2g/hr. on my 32 briggs vanguard with a 61" deck. Ferris

I was wonder this same question, hope to see a couple more responses. I have prices on a couple units and just waiting to pull the trigger myself.

It's my understanding that the Vanguard gas models are highly fuel efficient vs Kawasaki or Kohler due to the fact the VG's develop their peak torque at lower RPMs.

    I've heard this same thing.

I am thinking about going for an EFI engine option.
