hey guys, trying to run some numbers. how much fuel do you guys use per week. also add how many lawns you do and what kind of mowers you run. thanks a lot, just trying to find the average fuel costs of landscapers.

30 to 35 lawns cut per week. About 20 gallons for mowers and mix. I run a 23 HP Lazer and a 19 HP Great Dane stander. Maybe another 25 gallons in the truck...but that includes all driving, estimates, supply runs, kids, etc.

Currently we do 31 lawns per week...takes us 2-3 days depending on the conditions. Runs us two fillups in the truck...~45 gallons. The mowers average out to be about a gallon per hour. We need about 20 gallons of equipment fuel per week. We probablly go through about 1-1.5 gallons per week of fuel mixture. Basically, at about 3.40 per gallon its running us around 250-275 over two days of cutting.

    40 accounts - 2 days.
accounts are pretty far spread out.
go through $80.00 in gas each week on the route @ 3.65 per gallon.
6 gallons in the mowers / blowers & other equipment. 15- 16 gallons in the truck.

hey thanks guys, that really helps. apparently Birdturd is more efficiant than everyone else, but thats ok. :) I was curious, for those that use enclosed trailers, do you find that you use more gas in your truck?

Not sure about the gas thing but I can tell you for our company there is no way I would go back to an open trailer. IMHO, the benefits of the enclosed trailer FAR FAR outweights the benefits of a closed trailer.

My enclosed trailer is like a rolling shop. When it rains we stay dry and can work on the equipment. Change blades, clean air filters, restring trimmer heads. The enclosed trailer offers so much more as a theft deterent system...granted if a theif wants it ain't no padlock gonna stop 'em. Not to mention it is a rolling billboard. I'm not sure the extra mile or so per gallon is really gonna add up to all that much when you consider being able to keep your laborers working through a rain spritz.

yeah i guess i am the most fuel efficient. i do not know how you guys have 30 accounts and are going through $200+ in fuel. I don't know if you have diesel or what, but that's a hefty expense. I'm using a 2004 F-250 5.8L gas towing a 6x12 enclosed.
