What's the best way to get those annoying little clamps loose when changing the fuel filter on a Kohler 25?

We've used a couple of different clamps on the fuel lines/filters etc.

One style is the flat spring style clamp. You'll usually find these on the Kohler side of the fuel lines and filter. Generally a wide flat pliers works great. I use a LinemanÂ’s pliers personally.

For the wire type spring clamps there are pliers available that are made specifically for this purpose. Personally I use the pliers of some type with large serrated teeth. A small "water pump pliers" often works for me or a standard pliers if you get the wire in the deep serrationÂ’s just inside of the main clamping face. The key is to work the opposite side away from the pliers at the same time. It also seams to help if I attach to the clamp from the side rather than above.

In either case the wire clamps can often be difficult to remove.

Once you've removed the clamps you can always replace them with a "screw" type clamp as well.
