    Briggs 12hp
    model:281707
    type: 0412 01
    code: 90051011

Started up for 1st time and would stall after awhile.
Oil seemed to be diluted with fuel!!
Drained and refilled with new oil...appears to be running better.

My question is after sitting all winter it happened...what caused it

I am sure it will happen again, so Id like to take care of it now.
    What to look at?

It probley had a some trash in the needle and seat (that & your floats) is what cuts the fuel supply of to the carb, but when theirs some trash in it it will not stop the fuel from draining into the engine after you have shut it off allowing the fuel to dump into the cylinder and dripping past the rings strait into the oil. Their should be a screw at the bottom of the fuel bowl and you can loosen it up and let all the fuel in the bowl drain out ,then lightly tap the carb with a rubber mallet to free up any possibly stuck floats and retighten the screw then put fresh fuel in. Most of the times that will work wonders for your problem. Hope this shines some light on the problem 4 ya!
