Priced a exmark lazer z hp 50 with a 23 kaw and a 52 as with a 28 kaw. How much harder on fuel would the 28 be over the 23. Also was looking at the hp 46 with a 19. I would guess that the 19 would be the best on fuel but not sure. I want something around a 50" cut because of the size yards I mow.

The larger hp machine will likely last a little longer, possibly cut better in thicker grass. You're tradeoff will be fuel usage. Personally, I'd go with the largest engine available for the particular model you choose.

Go with the 28 hp Kawi. I have one with the 52 deck and the guy's love it. Cuts good and doesn't use much more fuel per day than our 62 with the 25 kawi

The 28 Kawi on the Lazer Z AS 60inch mulching deck, burns between 1.3 and 1.4 gph. This is what mine does but it is not quite broke in yet. Lots of power.
