recently, well irrigated lawn has what appears to be dead grass infiltrating and spreading thoughout the lawn, gives the lawn a sheen or dead look..the dead grass has what appears to be red tips as if touched with nail polish, any ideas what is going on?

sounds like the fungus is among us! sounds like dollar spot but if yu could attach a pic or two it would help in the id. Try to get there in the early am and see if ther is Mycelium(white cottony stuff) in these areas. If so its fugus but cant tell which one without pics. good luck

You can buy mancozeb at Lesco or most other commercial suppliers. We care for athletic fields, so any turf problems must be attended to. Where problems occur in lower maintenance areas, we are not so particular, and fertilizer used to grow through red thread is acceptable. Our experience shows that lawns left untreated will eventually decline to the point where they are not acceptable.
