    Hello Member;

    I came across some information that states not to use funny/flex pipe in distances greater then 3 feet due to the high internal resistence nature of the pipe and resulting pressure loss. Has anyone had experience with this?

    I want to relocate a spray head and rotar head approx 6 feet from the 1" main trunk.

    Thank-you

    Although I do not recommend it, most likely it will work.

    Danmac;

    What would you do instead?

    Thanks

    With a 'standard' 3 gpm rotor head, there will be more pressure lost in the funny pipe elbow(s) than in the six feet of funny pipe making the connection.

    I agree with all, but one would do well to check the friction loss characteristics of funny pipe; it can be a killer! :cry:

    Best scenario is to come off of the pvc or poly lateral pipe, and extend it closer to the head before going down to swing pipe. I said I don't recommend it, but I have done it. All depends on how well the system operates, location of pipe, site conditions, time allotted, etc.

    Wasn't it you that installed a zone around a pool using funny pipe?

    :laugh: I've seen entire systems installed with funny pipe. Even though it was drip & micro, there were all kinds of problems with flow and pressure as a result.

    6' is our limit and they work just fine under that.
