furry looking grass

    hi. why is it that the lawns i ct that are treated by TurfTenders are " Furry" looking when they get long. Hre is a pic of a lawn that i cut last wed. 1 week. the second pic will be 2 lawn i cut. one that turftenders treats and one that i am starting to treat side by side.

    i have lawns like that to, i hate that almost as much as crabgrass NOT!

    It's called "going to seed" , there is nothing wrong with it.

    The fertilization is causing early heading. (seeding)
    We've got lots of it right now.

    I really noticed a lot of it on our campus this week. From what I know (as long as it's not annual bluegrass), this is normal around this time. Sure, it's not as wonderful to look at, but I'd venture to say that ultimately it's a sign of healthy turf. Most other plants seed and/or flower when they are healthy... seems mother nature intends things to work out that way.

    I am pretty sure that it's annual bluegrass. Just put down some Pre-m on it before it starts emerging again in the Fall. you wotn't see nearly as much of it next year.

    chefdrp, were you just wanting to show us the difference or does this concern you? As mentioned this just looks like the lawn is going to seed.

    I have a patch like that where its real wet. It gets real thick in that spot. I think its seed too!
