In the weeks to come I plan on purchasing a older Fuso (2002 + - ) Standard cab with a 10' dump body. This truck will not be a daily driver so I'm looking in the 80K plus used chassis catagory. I've been looking at one that is a 6 sp. standard. I've also seen many Allison autos but am not sure on towing power and longevity of the auto vs. standard.

Keep in mind that I'm looking at the Fuso FH which is a 6 cyl. / 17,500 GVW combo.

I'll be using it to tow compact equipment in the 7,000-8,000 # range on my 5T trailer.

There will only be two drivers using this truck .

    I used to have a 99 FE-SP, with a 5spd.

I would recommend the manual, I know in the FESP they had a lot of problems with the autos.

With the manual you get some extra power and better control imho.

As long as both drivers are competent with a manual then I'd say its a no brainer.
