I see round two of four dollar gas prices coming as soon as the U.S. economy rebounds. I am looking to park my F-250 and it's 11.9 MPG in favor of a smaller truck that will get better fuel mileage hauling 2000lbs of trailer/mowers. Anybody been able to hit that 18 MPG mark towing? I used to get 16 with a 04 F150 with a 4.2- manual six cyl.

I have a6.0 liter Diesel F350 and I make 10 miles a gallon towing almost 16000 lb trailer, I don't know much about gas engines because I never tried one.

Ditch the trailer and get a cabover diesel good mileage and you have a truck that will work for a long time.

Super lawn trucks say15-18mpg, No better than a gas 1/2 ton and I would never recoup the initial cost or higher maintenance cost for diesel.
I am thinking mid nineties Chevy six with a shortbox and manual overdrive.
