This year, I am being really anal about record keeping. I have created a special line item expense in Quickbooks for Sales Tax Paid On Purchases. Between that and all the other taxes we pay, and license renewals, auto tags & stickers, property taxes etc, it is amazing to see how much our society is taxed.

I would like to add a special line item in Quickbooks for both Federal and Texas gasoline tax, but I don't know how much either one of these are. Anyone know?

Also, is there sales tax built into the price of a gallon of gasoline at the pump in Texas?

    Thanks,

Well, I called the Texas Comptroller's office in Austin and in Texas, there is no sales tax on gasoline. However, there is a state fuels tax of $.20 per gallon.

All I need to know now, is, how much is the Federal gasoline tax? If anyone knows the answer, or where to find it, I appreciate the help.
