I saw a 6x12 landscape trailer at a dealer the other day and it had a leaf type spring mounted under the trailer and attatched to the botom of the gate. This was the gate lift assist. Never saw this setup. The dealer wasn't too friendly so I didn't ask any questions. Can this setup be bought aftermarket? or is it only on this brand of trailer and I think it was a no name trailer.

I think that there was a picture of that type of set-up on here a month or so ago. Do a search.

I found that thread and pictures. It is the same setup I saw at the trailer dealer. I know now that it is patented and not sold as a kit. I guess I'll have to buy a new trailer.

Just because it's patented doesn't mean that you can't built one for yourself (or have a shop build it). You can not however build them and sell them for a profit.
