I was wonder what is the typical size of most gates that you deal with. I found a mower that goes through gates that are 46" or larger and I was wondering if that is a typical size? Do I need to go smaller

ztr would be a exmark hp 44"

Check out the Gravely 34 Z mower. This is a zero turn rider that Gravely engineered out of their hydro Z walk behind mower. They made it 2 inches narrower so that it would fit through the most common back yard gate which are usually 36 inches wide.

This is a really well made COMMERCIAL machine. The mower deck is made of 7 ga. steel , and is 5 1/2 inches deep !The hydro drive system is a separate pump and wheel motor set up, of the same type usually found on the $8000 mowers, yet the cost of the 34 Z is just over $4000.

Hit the Gravely button at the top of the page and take a look at the 34 Z rider.

I see mainly gates around 42". Rarely run across one that a 36 won't fit thru.

I bought a Gravely 34"-Z 3 weeks ago to go with my Scag Tiger Cub 48" Z.
This is the best setup I have found. Love these machines. The only other mower I have is a 21" Snapper for the really narrow areas (or wet) that are too long to use the string trimmer on. Can Drive through 36" gates like they don't exist. Has made my work much faster. Gates in this area run from 36"-49". Kurt

Two scenarios...In the N.E. I use a G.D. Surfer 52" and get through 48" gates...there's a trick to it. Winters I spend in Florida, and they seem to use a lot of 36" mowers. The lots are smaller in the South, and so are the gates. I have not measured too many gates in the South, but they generally run in the order of 37-38". Up North, it is different: the gates are larger, usually 48".

I don't think I've come across a gate yet that my 36" Exmark wb won't fit through. It is a backup mower for gated yards and small spaces.

Get a Great dane Gateway its a 52" mower that folds up into a 36". Saves alot of time on gated yards! Price is about $5500-6500. This mower does not stripe the greatest, right now I'm trying to make a kit for it.
