First work order this morning at 5:40 am... quick change-out of a clogged Toro 300 Stream Rotor nozzle at a junior high school next door to our shop. Dig a little around the sprinkler to better expose the head and put hands down while kneeling on sidewalk. Within seconds I'm covered with damn red/black ants we call piss-ants. Got bit six times on the left hand before I could shake them all off killing as many as I could. Welts all over! So I change the nozzle, break out the primer and start stinging back. Gawd damn piss-ants!

Magnifying glass would be more fun to zap em back.

Are they fire ants by chance? They feel like you're on fire when they bite.

They make it this far North to NE KS, and I better be ready to move to Canada!! Can't think of a more compelling reason to re-locate farther north than fire ants!!!

FiIre ants are most definately around Visalia, CA. None in Monument CO, never will be (shallow freeze line will kill buried mounds).
