We maintain and install the irrigation on a large condo complex and assisted living facility that is several hundred acres. This winter we are going to add irrigation for another 24 condo's. The place provides us with enough work to keep a crew busy off and on all year long.

Since a lot of our mainlines are quite deep, the ground is miserably rocky, and there is still development going on, the owner of the place has a Ford 555 backhoe that we've put to good use instead of using the typical chain trencher.

I just heard today that they purchased a new Kubota KX-121 exclusively for us and the landscapers to use. 12" and 24" dig bucket, 36" toothless clean up, and a thumb. I'll probably never haul a chain trencher to the site again.

Now if they would just let me take it to other jobs :D

Nice! I really like the Kubota's, we looked at a 121-3 before we bought our 303 and decided it was too much machine for us. That and the dealer has inadequate service and their prices are very high we decided against it. Other than the crappy travel pedals, they're great machines.

Yeah, I can't wait to take it for a spin. I've briefly used the KX-161, and aside from their size, they are pretty similar.

I sure love my KX 121-3 w/ angle blade! I rented some of the others before buying and for the money I don't think you can beat it. Have 1200 hrs on mine and still no probs.

if there excavators are anything like their tractors, they will last a long time. our 35 hp loader is at least 15 years old and we have done nothing but general maintenance to it.

Whats the reach on this machine, and how would you classify it as far as what ton of machine it is?

The 121-3 is pretty much a 5 ton machine.

To bad is a open ROPs it will be a little wet running that machine in the winter but otherwise should be nice having a new machine to use.

It took me a little bit getting used to the 161 Kubota its fast or I'am used to slow fullsize machines. Yes its frustrating when you have big feet and travel pedals designed for orientals.

those are awesome machines. we rent one all the time and absolutely love it.

it is a little smaller than the bobcat 337 we rent but i would rather have the 121 any day.
