Big Ap Co. here do as many as 7 and #1 goes down on frozen ground.

I typically start out at 5 then work towards 4.

What I'm getting at is focusing on results and not bean count mode.

This opens the door for the spread it and forget it type products that are heat released.

    Your thoughts...?
    and forget

We switched to SiFi 2 years ago.. It costs more but the savings shows up in labor and a better lawn. You will have to figure out how to put the program together. There is a way to do it..My customers seems to like the easier mowing because of the lack of clippings...

PM me any tips or suggestions on this. It's no doubt easier to present for clients I mow weekly for.

Being compared to TG or other Big Co. is not my angle.

I'm really only looking for clients who will for the "most part" let me be in control of irrigation settings, mowing heights etc. I also bundle aerations so nothing gets skipped.

The chronic habitual poor cultural maintenance type clients who won't listen....don't really want them.

I bundle in core aeration into my 4 and 5 step programs no questions asked. Tight MN clay soil - you have to aerate.

As for SiFi fert - I will be interested in hearing how you sell a season only being on a lawn one or two times per season. A customer is not going to pay double the price around here, simply because you use a high price fert, regardless of how that fert works.

Yes I’m with you on bundling aeration on the 4-5 AP clients.

I will be testing the Si-Fi products on a few lawns and on my own. I have been told you need to get the lawn up and running with a faster release product in the Spring then use it mid season. I still can’t see how this product will provide the optimal Fall Sept-Nov 65%-75% Nitrogen dose....?

Let us focus on that 1 statement for a moment... Both Agricultural Literature on grassland pastures AND Horticultural Extension Literature about lawns,,, both agree that Springtime fert apps are not only unnecessary but undesirable...
I remember thinking how remarkable it was when the Ag Lit. gave the REASON why Spring apps were unnecessary...

So, from that basis, you may want to RETHINK what you've been told... :)

I hear you....but the public at large doesn't get that factoid. So from a marketing standpoint.... clients and potential clients want green much of the season and they want to hit the easy button and many or most in my area drift into ignore mode once leaves begin to Fall.

I have "Green" lawns , right now just after the snow is gone, that are EQUAL in color,,, which is a really nice deep brite green... (We never did turn BROWN this Spring,,, BTW)

I haven't seen the squirt&fert guys out yet, so there is no way to compare whether more fert RIGHT NOW would make a difference, but I don't see that it could... What IS more visible are the areas that are lacking moisture... those areas brighten up a little after a good soaking rain, but it is still paler than the areas away from the trees and were also over-watered all alst Summer, so their moisture reserves are doing well...

Anyways,,, I could care less about what the clients think is good, better, best in the lawncare ideas... there is no better way to get EARLY GREEN than by use of a properly timed winterizer... Just add it in your schedule at least once after Labor Day...

I think the One App is good for 120 days,,, so you certainly don't want that down as a Winterizer... :)

I also agree shooting a big dose of N at the lawns now is a mistake. I do fling pre, but it is on 15-0-0 with 80% stabilized N and I am only putting on like 1/2 lb at bag rate. I do an early summer app of UFLEXX but by then, I think lawns can utilize the N better.
