There was a giant vac 8hp brigs blower in the paper today that they wanted $150 for. It was used just by a home owner. They said it runs good and doesn't burn oil. However they thought it was a 7-9 years old. Is there anything in particular I should be looking at on the machine when I go take a look at it? $150 just seemed like a good price to me.

Look for oil seepage or deteriorated gaskets around the head and exhaust. Make sure the engine still has plenty of compression as well.I'd check the bottom of the carb and linkage as well to see if anything looks out of sorts. Check the color of the oil and look at the air filter and see how clean it looks. The blower could look great cosmetically, but it's the maint. schedule they followed that would shorten / lenghten the life of the engine. And it never hurts to offer less to a private individual, either.. :p
