GM manual five speed feedback.

    Looking for a freeway rig with a overdrive that gets good gas mileage for hauling only 6x10 trailer and a 36 & two 21's and usual extras during mulching season. Chevy or GM 1500 with 292 with a five peed manual.

    I want to stay away from the auto with lockup so is anybody running this tranny and are they reliable?

    A Chevy with a 292 will be extremely hard to find, they haven't been made since 1981 or 82. You'd be better off with a Ford F-150 or 250 with a 300 straight 6 with the ZF-5 if you can find one with the ZF (the ZF will only be found in the F-250's), look for a fleet special, for the F-250's with 300's. The Fords with 300's were made up until 1997. When properly maintained, a Ford 300 is good for over 300,000 miles, sometimes 400k.

    My mistake, I am looking at the Vortech 4800 or the 293.
