Just ordered a 06 GMC 5500 4x4 with Duramax and Allison Trans. I am not obligated to purchase the truck when it comes in but would like feed back on the Duramax & Allison.

IMO, the Allison tranny isone of the best out there, I dont know much about the Dmax motors though, so I'm not commenting on those. good choice though in a truck.

Thanks, I have not had luck with Powerstrokes or the trucks they were in. The 03 chevy I have is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. So the duramax and the GM combination worry me.

Nothing to worry about at all. Don't "break it in". Drive just like normal. Check out dieselplace.com it's dedicated to the D/A.

What kind of body are you going to put on it?

knap-pack behind the cab then either a 10' or 11' dump with fold down sides. Or the knapheid landscaper body.
