I need to everything that you know about a 1988 GMC 1-Ton, 4WD, 6.2 diesel, Dump truck with 90k miles on it. I will be test driving it on monday, and need to know what to look for. I do not know anything about the 6.2 diesel. It also comes with a 8 foot fisher plow.
    Thank you for your help.

    Fuel leaks

Transmission failures (both manual and automatic).

    Electrical gremlins.

    Injector pump failure.

    No power (no turbo).

In a nutshell....stay away unless its dirt cheap.

    (I'm talking disposably cheap...under $2000).

Griffin16 where in Mass are you from?We had an '84 6.2L in a van it was ok but sometimes it would not start we let it sit overnight then next day it would run like nothing was wrong.Just make sure that everything is tight under the hood we had alot of things get loose from the vibration it makes.

Griffin16 you will find a few people that are OK with the sick.2 chevy engine. But the vast majority of people I know will have nothing at all to do with them.
That engine works good as a boat anchor.

I'm from Stoneham griffin16 ,And I would have to agree with Brickman on the 6.2 we had an '84 always had problems with it.But if you can get a good K style chevy for cheap grab it they are good solid trucks.
