6.0 sucks on fuel economy, but has good power..pretty good trucks.

x2. My 6.0 gets roughly 8-10 mpg with my enclosed trailer packed with stuff doing very heavy city driving. Great truck though. I got about 4600 miles on it.

I second the 8-10 mpg with a loaded trailer, both city and interstate. Empty on the interstate I only get about 13 mpg. I try not to drive it much.

Agreed on milage. For a gasser though, they have great power. Ask anyone that knows anything about them and they will tell you that the LS motors are the best gas motor to date. They are high revving, have great power, take serious abuse, and run forever (well, you know what I mean).

we have 97K on our 02 6.0L 2500HD, and they are hard miles, really good power, runs like a scalded doge when you lean into the pedal but they like to chug that gas. we had alot of annoying issues with the truck at first but it seems to be running fine now.

When I had the 6.0 gasser I got between 10 and 12. For a gas it was a awesome truck. I am getting 19-20 mpg with the Duramax.

Make sure you carfax that truck, and also have a mechanic check it over prior to purchase. I've helped a local farmer look for a similar truck recently, and for a gas with that sort of mileage, it's probably going to still run 14 - 16k. His '06 with 35k was just over $20k. Just make sure it isn't a rebuilt title truck.

Nice rig, just carry gas with you...

To get the same power out of the 6.0L, you have to feed it the same or more than the 8.1L. Ever weigh the combo to see what it weighs?

I have an 04 3500 with a landscape body. It has been a solid truck. Has the coldest a/c of anything I have ever owned. It gets 8-9 miles to the gallon, but runs strong. The 4L80E auto is a well built tranny if properly serviced. It has a plug on the pan and I drain the fluid at each oil change. It takes 4-5 quarts to refill. I also drop the pan and replace the filter every 25000. Maybe overkill but to me it is cheap insurance for a hard working truck. The 6.0 has proved to be a very solid engine.
