I have a chance to buy a 1999 Exmark Lazer Z with an 18 HP Kohler engine for $4,000 that has 1425 hrs. It appears to be in good shape but runs a little rough. Is that alot of hours? and is it a good buy or should I move on?

For about $2000 more you can buy a new one with that undersized motor.

On that age and the amount of hours I wouldn't pay more then 20% of its retail price when it was new. Or about 1200-1500 dollars 4000 is way to much for 1400 hours.
