Good Info about Oil.

    Use to put amsoil 10w40 in my wright mowers until the last oil change.
    Came out black as coffee with only 58 hours.
    So much for best oil.

    So, it's the oil's fault it got black??
    Checked your air filter, right?

    Color doesn't mean squat. Have it analyzed and see if there is a real need for concern.

    Must have been a filthy interior. The Amsoil did what your previous brand should have. Do you change filter with each oil change?

    I have used Mobil 1 synthetic oil for many years, in the spring I use Mobil 1 synthetic 10w 30 until temperatures reach the 90's. I use Mobil synthetic 15 w 50 for the rest of the year. I change the oil 2 times a year, and buy fram oil filters, the synthetic one or before the high millage. I change the oil in the fall, put 10w 30, because the temperatures are cooler and leave it in until around late June or early July. then I put in 15w 50 synthitic Mobil 1. I have never had any type of a breakdown related to oil or any type of lubrication, ever. Sometimes the head gaskets need changing, so I will change them here and there, I rebuild the engines at 3000 hours or longer if the head gaskets go again, like rings all gaskets etc., and to tell you the truth, the rings did not even need to be changed, but I did anyway. Inside the engine is perfect, the cam is also, the cylinders, everything is like new, so I highly recommed this oil. Some of my engines are 25 hp kohler, Kawasakis etc., I have four mowers with 25 hp kohlers, with over 6000 hours on them some much more time but the clock do not work on some of them, and they are used a lot. Very important, never ever switch back to regular oil if you use mobil 1 or really any type of synthetic oils, the engines will literally self destruct. If you use mobil 1 then that is what you always should use. The engines also run much cooler. Ohh, I also forgot to mention that when I do the second oil change, I also put a half quart of Dura lube treatmant in with the oil. Honestly, I have never ever had a motor break down because of lubrication or oil related problems, when doing my oil changes exactly like this. I am not telling anyone what to do, but this is what I have been doing for many years, since Mobil 1 has been sold.

    Why should you switch to dyno after synthetic. And how would it "self destruct"?

    Read this carefull, once you use mobil 1 synthetic oils, never ever switch back to regular or really another brand of oil, even if you rebuild the engines totally from scratch.. This is what will happen if you use synthetic oil and switch back to regular oil. Maybe a week more or less your lifters and cam will go, the lobes will literally be worn down, then the metal from the cam will infiltrate all your bearings and cylinder etc., and the engine will be destroyed, how do I know this, my friend told the mower dealer about what I do, and he told my friend not to listen to me and changed back to regular oil, in less then a week, his motor literally self destructed, and he was afraid to tell me at first what he had done, and I actually said to him, you put regular motor oil in here, didn't you. He told me yes and what the dealer said about me. The motor was destroyed, 25 hp kohler engine and he also put the regular oil in his 14 hp Kawasaki engine, but did not run it long enough to destroy it, and we changed the oil back to synthetic and luckily it is fine.

    I can guarantee you that had nothing to do with switching from synthetic to dyno. It was a coincidence

    Horsecrap! Anytime I hear cam failure after a rebuild two things come to mind. Mixed up lifters or lack of assembly lube.
