Have you had any success with Google Adwords Express? I have had a ad going for 10 days now and its up to $92 already. It hasn't resulted in any jobs yet. I wonder if it's just my competition taking a look.

I have not had many leads generate when I have used it in the past. I do believe your sense of the competition clicking you could be correct. I also have received emails, and phone calls from advertisers who clicked on my ad, costing me money, to sell me services.

No, it's not likely your competition. It's simply the "ease of use" and "helpfulness" of Express getting your ads in front of as many eyeballs as they can by using their Broad Match search terms, Display Network, and the inability to use negative keywords.

While not actually helping you, Google shareholders like your initiative. :) My advice is to turn it off, switch to regular Adwords, and set your campaigns to Exact Match, use negative keywords if you need, and turn off Display Network.

I find it interesting that I can google lawn service and my home town and I will see ads from companies that are 75 miles away.

They're doing nothing but wasting money. Adwords is a terrific tool you need to do what tony outlined

Maybe that was my problem, too. Thanks for that insight. I tried to switch it, and had a hard time doing so. Therefor, I am still stuck with the express version, which I no longer pay for.

Last I knew they weren't interchangble. That may have change. Go to Google Adwords directly and set one up.

I'm sure it's been discussed in website forum so search.

Adwords and Adwords Express are two separate products.

If people end up on this thread because they're researching Adwords or Adwords Express, what you don't want to do is base anything off of Google's not-at-all-helpful product comparison. It's not so much that it's just light on detail, it's that it's underhandedly so.

    Google's Comparison Guide...

    My Comparison Guide...
Adwords: Use if you think you need it. It works, just educate yourself, or seek help, before doing so.

Adwords Express: Instead of using this, buy your Mom, girlfriend, daughter, or neighbor, something nice. Alternatively, you can set your money on fire. :)

I recall being a bit confused with the regular adwords...perhaps another plus for the shareholders, as that is what sent me to express.

I see now that you can be much more precise with your ads by using the the full version of Adwords.
