A 60 inch mower can cover a lot of ground at full speed. There is a huge difference tho in weekly and bi weekly. If you have to go slow because the grass is long it will take hours longer. Make sure it's weekly or $350 bi weekly.

If its a weekly, once you get a few cuts on it, your time should go down.

Can you guys really operate a successful business on $30 an hour?

Better than I can on no money an hour. Besides, as someone mentioned it should end up being closer to $60 p/h

I'd take the job. It should be an easy 4 hours if you know what you're doing and don't goof around. 5 Acres isn't that big a job unless it's plum full of stumps, huge roots, bushes etc. To be able to rely on that job paying regularly though, I'd make sure I had a contract with everything spelled out clearly.

Well how many days are you runnin and how many days do you want to mow. If your quota isnt full take it till you get something better. Letting one person take an entire day is pretty risky but if you got free time go for it.

    no no no no

There's ditches (plural mind you) wet areas and a pond to mow/trim around.
Lots of obstacles, slow mowing, ruts and other issues.

This doesn't sound like a "quick" 5 acres.

I too vote don't take that job at all.

Never be dictated to what you will be paid.
    That's a job.
Your a contractor, you make the rules.

you might be able to make a good money at $250.00

But I don't like the way the conversation went down. Something about that smells.

Because this is an expensive business to be in. Everyone has different numbers of course, but my operating costs are more than $30 an hour.

Id probably do it, you could do 2 in a day, that's 500$ minus expenses, so 350$ profit or 1700$ per week.

    I would ask $300.

DR makes tow behind trimmer/mowers that follow contours automatically. Will go under fences, will stay off to the side so will go into ditches, swing close to water.
