OK so I pulled the ol Mag out of storage today and ran my cali tests.

Thought the output through the main nozzle was kind of weak so I checked a few things. Upped my RPM's to the max recommended, and then saw that my hand trigger was not pulling the ball valve all the way open like it should be. Did a quick adjustment at the handle, and ran my timed tests. 3 times over. Got like 25% more volume out of the main nozzle than when I ran the tests last season. I was a bit stupified, mainly that it appears that I ran all last season at less than full flow (still did good job on weeds tho). So for PG owners make sure you are checking everything when calibrating!

Figured I am now getting about 78 oz/minute thru the blue hi speed tip vs. 59 oz/min. when I cali'd last season. PG owners, check that ball valve!

What swath width are you using? Measure with steel tape. What is the distance from nearest wheel track to nearest wheel track?
What is the distance from the left wheel track to the left wheel track?
Speed. What distance in feet do you cover in 1 minute? (easier: what is time to travel 100 feet?).

I'll have to test that....I know my effective swath is about 7 ft.

Good call on the ball valve, I noticed the same thing with mine last year and had to adjust mine as well. Haven't calibrated mine yet this year since I had no intentions of spraying this first round.

Have you found a great way to calibrate the granular. This might sound ridiculous but I am basically just eye balling the flow to each side. Run 7' from center to center of wheel tracks and everything has been good so far. I hate the three hole design with the adjustment on the third hole...

New to PG this year. Spent all day Friday and half the day yesterday tweaking. I threw some ag nozzles in because the only nozzles that came with mine were the brown stripped ones. I think I'm at 28 oz's per K. I've used many ag sprayers so this is all new to me using a low volume. We'll see how my kill rate is. I get about 12 feet of coverage with it.

Which ball valve are you talking about? The valves for opening and closing the hoses to the nozzles? I have a centri but I think your PG maybe different. I am going through it now and ordering a few new parts and tweaking a few things. I was terrified after putting new gas and firing her up this spring and she was making a terrible screaming whenever I hit the throttle. Tore it down a bit and found the idler pulley was wearing out the bearings pretty bad, must have got some moisture in there over the winter. I do LOVE how easy it is to work on. Rewired a few of the connections and hopefully she'll be ready to calibrate and run the whole season. The support at PG is a little lacking to say the least - take 5 days to get an answer out of them. lol

On a Mag, the ball valve I speak of is the one which is directly controlled with the hand spray control lever. I had an old dysfunctional lever which did not allow for that valve to open all the way up. Cut my volume off by 25% last year and I didn't even know it (cause last year was 1st year running this machine). Still got decent weed control.....
Now I can cut my herbicide mix ratio down a bit since my volume is up, saving me a little bit of $$.

Yes your mix will be different but you're still applying the same amount of AI per given area.

True, duh, now I'll cover less sq ft per tank than b/f.
    Wasn't thinkin on that comment.....
