I got 2 pallets of St. Augustine sod installed today in Austin, TX .

First time experience with this sod and first season in TX. I had neighborhood lawn mowing company install this for me.

    1. 8 days ago, they killed all existing grass.
    2. 2 days ago they removed all dead grass by raking deep.
    3. Treated the existing top soil with Scotts Grub Ex (I had it in my garage).
    4. Put down 1/2 inch of fresh top soil and I put some 20-10-10 Fertilizer
on new top spoil (approx. 1/2 lb/1000sf).
    5. All sprinklers were checked and valve box covers etc. were cleared.
    6. Sod appears to be laid pretty tightly at joints and cut even at sidewalks.

The sod was not rolled down. It didn't occur to me. I went to Sod Farm/Sales office along with the installer as they get fresh sod every Tuesday and I paid for 2 fresh pellets.

Should I rent a roller from HD? The area is pretty small as it used 1-3/4 pallets only.:dizzy:

How much water I need to give to sod for next 4-5 weeks?

I was asked to give 3/4''-1'' daily for next 2-3 weeks, and wait 6 weeks before putting down any fertilizer. The installer said I should also consider putting down some "weed n feed."

Temps are going to avg. 90 for next 2 weeks.

Is my watering plan OK? The new sod gets direct sun after 12 PM. Should I water 1/2'' at 5AM and another 1/2 '' at 6 PM.

Thanks (hopefully I get a reply this time)

That amount of water is overkill. I got a pallet put down in my back yard and immediatly put some ORGANIC fertilizer. I water it every other night with a sprinkler for 15 minutes and it looks like it could be in a magazine. It looks fabulous.

Also, no need to roll it.
