Was told that it was a good company doing the install and that they do great work. I'll Let the pictures speak for themselves. I also seen the same company build a wall with no fabric and 4" of stone dust as base.
Bedding sand. You dont need that, just use tamped stone dust
    [IMG]
Dont need poly sand or any sand in fact for the joints just use the left over stone dust.

The bigger the pile left on the job the bigger the profit I guess

tripping hazard and lawsuit waiting to happen for the home owner

Hard cut I get but still its just ugly seeing a straight line run up at a corner.
Cant forget the prunus subhirtella pendula on the north side of the house 2 ft off the siding.

    What town is that in?

In all reality, that sorta stuff is routine for this industry. See it all the time. Frank Homeowner calls and wanta a patio. he stands there in his backyard drilling you on how long u been doin this, and asks a million good questions in regards to your competency. Then turns around and give the project to the worst person possible. yeah, great move Frank the all Knowing.

Stuff like that is nothin new for the contruction industry. You have sub-par roofers. Sub-par tile installers, sub-par drywall hangers.

I have an aquaintance that is having a paver patio installed - by another company. He didnt realize I was in the patio business. I told him "buyer beware, in this economy there are lotta plumbers suddenly turned patio experts out there". His response was "i've known this guy for a long time and I know his capabilities...." yeah, we'll see about that. I can't wait to go check it out. yet on the other hand I hope it turns out good because I really dont wanna have to tell the guy that his patio is going to fail.

Got a call in the beging of the week asking to come check out a paver job that was installed by the previous owner and the new homowner wasnt happy. No problem I'll take a look. Get to the property to find this home owner built disaster. They want to know what to do with it. I said rip it out and rebuild but they want to use whatever they can to save money. I just about walked out when they said that. Pulled pavers to find atleast 3" of sand 3" of base (the stuff they sell at lowes and home depo in the bag) and thats it.Must just be my week.

Unless it was a foreclosure - the home inspector should have caught those steps.

The top rise into the dwelling surely does not meet building code.

Thats what a home inspector is for.

The last pic is a clear cut case of overdig failure. The house is on the newer side and an overdig stabilization was never done.....thus you get the sinking you see.
