The govenor spring on my new (used but new to me) Scag gave up the ghost. It rusted through and snapped. I ordered a new spring through J-thomas which seems too tight. REALLY high rpm's at full throtle - engine's going to blow if I leave it that way.

My dealer sold me one that seemed a little shorter. I had them check and cross check the spring with the spec number on my engine. After all that, same problem.

With both springs I get really high RPM's on full throttle and really low on slow throttle settings. When I adjust the throttle to the normal max engine RPM, I can engage the blade but dont get the blade tip speed that is normal.

It's kinda hard to explain, but does anybody have any ideas? The engine is a Kohler CV 12.5T

Most of the engine govs have a couple of different hole settings that the spring goes into.Plus different screw adjustments. If you dont know how to set the gov, you should probably take it to a dealer to have it set right.

Take it to the dealer let them do it if it doesn't cost that much
