Curious what folks have to say about the grass height going into the winter. How short/tall would you like to have it going into the cold season? I'm in IL about 30 minutes from St. Louis. Thanks for the inputs.

I lower down to 5" at Thanksgiving. Gotta ward off the snow mold.

3 inches year round for fescue. Not the setting on the mower, I actually measure blade tip to ground.

If I do a cleanup I'll cut about half inch lower to help pick debris up.

7 pin hole on Walker in septemebr, 6 pin hole October-Janurary, 5 pin hole in Feburary just before pre-emergent. Y'all do the figuring in inches, My diagram wore off long ago, haah. We let it go into winter long and take off a little each month till pre-emergent time. Basically several tiny scalps as we are getting leaves anyway, to prevent one large scalp.

I am surprised no one caught this......jockularity ha:)

5"? Up here in the polar north, a 5" height after snow out equals a matted, molded mess.

I personally do 2.25-2.5 inches for my own lawn and my customers.
