It is called Japanese Stiltgrass. The PSU county extension agent gave me the info. Said it is an invasive weed. Can be controlled with Pre-emergent. Pre emergent didn't work for me though on two of the lawns that had it last year. The whole lawn is covered with the stuff. I also saw somewhere that acclaim extra can kill it

    Correct about Jap Stiltgrass.

    You can control it!!!

Acclaim @ .5 oz per 1,000 with Sticker.

I backpack spot, using 1/2 Gal per 1,000 Sq Ft Volume. ( 1 oz. Accclaim per 1Gal )

It seeds in SEPT in Zone 6, so put down BARRICADE Pre-M in Early August, or 4 weeks B 4 seed).

Barracade works the Best for the "Timed Pre"

I am told by professional Lawn Doctor in NY that this is NOT stiltgrass. He insists that its an early stage crabgrass. I dont know who to believe. This is a photo of my lawn. Please tell me what to do. Its August now and I have 22,000 sq of lawn.

Bogus, that doesn't look like any crabgrass that I've run across.

That is def. not crabgrass of any form. Google stiltgrass, it looks just like it. Just remember, he might be wearing a uniform and do this for a living but that doesnt mean a thing. If he is calling this crabgrass he prolly wont be doing this long.
