a local dealer gave me a quote of $13,700 for a grasshopper 930D/72" w/ powerfold deck. the unit is a demo w/ about 200 hours on it and carries a full warranty.

    is this a good price?

That's what I paid for my 928d with 72" non-powerfold demo unit with 80 hours 3 years ago. I agreed to pay that price if they added another counter weight and put the suspension seat on it. I would be cautious of a demo unit with 200 hours. I think they sell for around mid 15's new, I would pay the extra to get one with 0 hours.

it was a regional manager demo unit or something like this. it has a 61" deck on it now and the dealer agreed to put the 72" one on it. so the deck is likely new.

since it took 2 days for a reply, i surmised it was not a great deal.

    thanks for the feedback.

Yes, that's a good deal. I paid about $15k for my new 928 in 07 with a 61" powerfold. New retail now is almost $17k!

he also offered the unit at 0% for 3 years.

should i try to "weasel" them down any more?

0% and a new deck makes it more interesting. Are you familiar with your local dealer and how good of service they provide? Did you get to demo the mower? Is the full warranty going to start when you purchase it or is it the remaining warranty? If you are sure of everything tell him you need an extra set of blades, oil and hydro filters to seal the deal.

The o% is from yard card...he isn't doing you any favors. It's something we all can get. I bought a 729 earlier this year. I can't compare prices because of diesel on your part, but I did pay $12,000 with a powerfold and that ez dumper hard bagger.Mine was new and not a demo. It doesn't hurt to talk prices.

But they're worth every penny, I kid you not. Imagine being able to go up steep hills and be able to come down them at your own pace. Or imagine being able to pull down a steep slope and be able to back back up it. There are a few guys running around here with over 10k hours. Now tell me they're too expensive! It would take 3 or 4 "regular" Z's to keep up with those hours and all of a sudden you're double the price of a Grasshopper.
