Looking at these three models for a flat acre yard.

    Exmark Quest qts691ka502
    Dixie Chopper Zee 2 2354

They all spec out pretty close
    Thanks

    Have you investigated a SCAG?

Might check out a Grasshopper 226v I believe it would be pretty close to your price point and is a better machine.

We would like to have one of our Exmark dealers contact you to set up a time you could demo our Quest unit. If you are interested, please send your contact information to exmarkpr@exmark.com.

Scag will run 1K more than the machines listed.

I would pick a Ferris is600z over all 3 of those. Scag Freedom Z 48" is right around $5k as well. Both are better than the other 3.

    Gravely zdht48
    - ZT3100 drives
    - Kawa FR engine
    - 8mph

    Exmark Quest qts691ka502
    - Kawa FR engine
    - Stamped deck
    - ZT2800 drives
    - 7mph
    - 2.9g tank (seriously?)

    Dixie Chopper Zee 2 2354
    - ZT2800 drives
    - Kawa FR engine
    - Deck looks stamped/bent

The Ferris is600z is around $5100-5300 and you get:
    - ZT 3400s
    - Their commercial unit ICD deck (same as what they put on their $10k+ units)
    - Suspension
    - Kawa FS engine
    - 10mph
    - 4 year or 500 hour warranty (unlimited hours first 2 years)
    - ROPS standard that will FOLD

I have been looking at mowers in the $5k range for a year now, and Ferris has really made one hell of a mower at this price point. What I like most is they aren't playing the "swap the deck with a cheaper one" game like everyone else does....

Ferris was NOT on my radar (Scag Freedom Z, BB CZT, and Gravely were what I had narrowed it down to) until they released this unit to replace the is500z.

I saw one today, and it is legit......I can't believe the 48" is only $5k. For a grand more you get 52/60" and a bigger engine, but for a home owner with 1 acre this the OP - this is THE best bang for the buck out there IMHO.

I will be buying one soon I hope!

Thanks for taking the time to explain. You certainly did your homework. I really appreciate it when someone offers more than the "my brother's uncle's sister's nephew's girlfriend's dog owned one 100 years ago and he told me it was junk" post.

The problem I have with Ferris is a local dealer personality thing.
